One of the lakes on the floor of the sombre Doolough valley in south-west Mayo, beneath the slopes of Mweelrea. The pass road beside it is walked each year in memory of the Doolough Tragedy of 1849, when famine victims perished on this route — a hauntingly beautiful glen.
