The largest spring in Missouri and one of the largest in the world, Big Spring discharges an average of 286 million gallons of crystal-clear 58°F water daily into the Current River. Groundwater travels from sources up to 45 miles away, dissolving 70 tons of limestone per day. A wheelchair-accessible walkway leads directly to the spring. The former state park (1924-1969) offers a year-round campground, housekeeping cabins, a dining lodge, hiking trails, and summer campfire programs within the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.
